Today sees the launch a new Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Policy and a protocol for joint working between the Office of the Public Guardian and Local Authorities.

The protocol, guidelines and policy issued by the OPG today will help to ensure vulnerable adults will benefit from a joined-up approach in responding to concerns about abuse.

The protocol and policy set out the procedures adopted by the OPG and local authorities for responding to concerns of abuse, and the timescales involved. Whilst the guidelines outline the respective roles the OPG, the Court of Protection and local authorities play to enable them to  work together to help prevent and respond to abuse, by sharing information and, following principles laid down in the guidelines.
